Jim Velzy at the UCSC Greenhouse has been doing an amazing job with the succulents for our project. These Dudleya Caespitosa aka “Live Forevers” were originally intended for a green roof design for our outside structure but have now been worked into the wall structures of the installation. The photos above are from the beginning of the summer when Jim and I transferred all of the seedlings into the greenhouse. The photos below are from last week when we sorted all the plants into large, medium and small sizes. They’re doing great and we look forward to working with them this fall in both the Oceanic Scales installation and in individual student projects as a part of the DANM Mechatronics fall class led by Jennifer Parker and Gene Felice.
